REFLECTION
An ineffective body copy includes words that avoid direct command like may, maybe, hope, try, and perhaps. Using words such as 'will' and 'can' can be more convincing and assertive.
Besides that, using a passive voice can weaken your message. To achieve an effective copy, it is advisable to write the copy in present tense. An example would be "Our company was chosen to receive an award" vs. "Our company received an award." The latter sounds more convincing.
Another point that makes a body copy ineffective is long-winded and indirect copies. One can try reading a copy to someone else to see if they are able to get the message. It is best if the copy is short and concise.
As for layout, centered text makes a copy less effective because it is harder to read. The starting position of each line changes, forcing the reader to work harder to find where each line begins to continue reading.
Aside to that, another point of ineffective layout is having too many columns of body copy. Columns of body copy form a gray tone which makes readers associate them with work.
